Man oh man I never know what to write in these emails! …… Let’s see If I can put something together shall we? Haha.
Alii everyone I love with all my heart!
First off, WOW It is December? Whaaaaaaaatttt? It is crazy to think I have already been out for almost six months! (I only have a Sister Mission Left! (18 months) This is crazy… I still feel as though I just left yesterday.
What a great Christmas season it is. This year instead of thinking about what I can get, I get to worry about what I can give. I have always loved the Christmas season, but as a missionary, the Christmas season means so much more. Before I never really associated Christmas with Christ, I always just thought of Santa. But being on a mission has made me realize the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas should NOT be about presents and gifts. Rather it should be about becoming more like our Savior. Remembering him, and finding ways we can serve and help others. As I go through this Christmas season here on Palau; I am going to do all I can to serve others and to help them lighten their burdens. Just as Christ has lightened mine.
Also I LOVE the Christmas countdown letters and my little tree! They are both by my bed! I read each day’s letter right before bed and they always give me such warm feelings. Each letter always reminds me of the deep love I have for each of those individuals that took the time to write. I love you all so much!
Also, Zippy is my new BFF! He is such a crazy Elf and he always finds himself in the craziest of places! I feel so blessed to know Santa Loves me enough to send me my very own Elf! We are already so close and I love him so much! I am so excited to spend the next 99 Christmas seasons with him, and I know my future family will grow to love him just as much as I do!
The work is going good here on the great island of Palau. We should have a few baptisms this month which I am so excited for!
Genesis is doing great! His faith is still strong and he is excited for the day he will enter the waters of baptism. Ak Betik a Renguk er Ngii!
My Palauan is coming along great! Yesterday was “Fast and Testimony” meeting. I got up and bore my testimony all in Palauan! It was so cool! The spirit was so strong as I did so, and I could tell that the congregation was so touched by the fact that I was trying to speak their language.
I truly know that language is the key to the heart; and as we speak to these people in their native tongue, their hearts will truly be moved. I gave the opening prayer yesterday in sacrament meeting, all in Palauan too! I love this language so much and am so thankful for a loving Father in Heaven that has helped me to learn this beautiful language.
We had a “child of record” baptism yesterday for a boy named Etei. He chose me to be the one to perform the ordinance. I felt so honored and blessed to have the opportunity to baptize him. He is the cutest little boy, and the light of Christ truly radiates from him. It was a wonderful baptism.
Today for “P” day we are going down to long island to play so Frisbee and baseball, it should be fun!
As I have been on my mission, I have changed so much. I am no longer the person I used to be, which in my eyes is a very good thing. In retrospect, as I look back on the person I was… I really do not like the person that I was.
I read a talk recently, that spoke about how our Heavenly Father knows us perfectly. How he has a divine purpose and destiny for each of us. It talked about how Heavenly Father guides specific people into our lives to help us realize our divine potential.
This talk made me think of all the wonderful people that Heavenly Father has placed into my life. Specific people came to mind such as: Calvin, Sister Smith, my loving Father and Mother, and my Grandpa Asay; to name but a few.
I know that my Heavenly Father guided each of these people into my life, to help me to realize my divine purpose, as one of his children. Without these people, I would not be where I am today. I am very thankful for the light each of you have been in my life.
Well that should do it for this week. I just feel an overwhelming feeling of love right now. I love you all so much and I love everyone here in Palau.
I hope you all have an Amazing week!
Love Elder Rupp (Rengul a Ngalek)
P.S. MEI ER A KRISTO!
