Alii Ungil Tutau!

I hope everyone had a wonderful week!

Okay regarding Mother’s day, I think I will just be calling home. I know how badly Mother wants to see her little boy… but Skype here is just to … well… I do not think it is very good. I feel it will detract from the whole experience. I feel calling will be much more enjoyable for everyone. I know it stinks but I guess that is what happens when you have a son on a mission in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! ha-ha

I am looking forward to talking with you all, love you!

So on to my week:

MONDAY

We went to the museum and it was pretty cool. We learned a lot about the culture and original beliefs of the Palauan people. The only down side was that Palauan women did not start wearing shirts in public until very recently, so the museum had plenty of NOT MISSIONARY APPROVED photos we had to avoid! ha-ha

We made it out alive though and everything else in the museum was super cool! And since we speak Palauan we got in for free! #blessingsfromthegiftoftongues

TUESDAY

I went on exchanges with Elder Warr. He recently “white washed” the Sister’s area of Meyuns. It was really cool to go and spend a day teaching there. Meyuns is where the church started in Palau and there are over 100 less active members.

The people there rarely speak anything but Palauan, which was awesome! I almost prefer Palauan over English now, and I love speaking to these wonderful people in their own tongue.

When a person hears the gospel in the language of their heart, that is when they reach true conversion. Ak betik a renguk a tekoi er a Belau.

WEDNESDAY

IT RAINED ALL DAY! PALAU IS ALMOST OUT OF THE DROUGHT! I DO NOT HAVE TO SHOWER WITH A BUCKET ANYMORE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS ON BEHALF OF PALAU.

THURSDAY

Was a sad day… We had our last District Meeting with Elder Striplin 🙁

Elder Striplin is awesome! I really look up to him. I have only served with him for a short 12 weeks, and I have learned so much from him. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to meet him and work with him.

FRIDAY

Elder Climer and I did our weekly planning with Elder Jenson since we will be a tri-panionship for about a week and a half until his new companion arrives on the island.

SATURDAY

I felt really sick but that did not keep me from working. If there is anything I learned from basketball, it was to just “sack up” and play through the pain! ha-ha So that is what I did!

We also went to the Baptism of “M” who is a long time investigator who was finally able to be baptized. She has an amazing testimony. “M” cannot walk, so her husband carried her to the water. It was such a sweet sight to see the love those two have for each other. I hope I will be that kind of husband one day.

SUNDAY

We had two investigators at church! “E” and “J”! Yep, the “M” family is back from Texas! (all except “J”) However her son “J” came to church and is doing awesome! He is preparing for baptism on May 14th. So exciting!

“E” is the coolest and most awesome girl ever! She is so prepared to receive the gospel. She loved attending church! Her baptism is also set for May 14th.

Our other investigator “R” was not able to come because of work, but he is coming next Sunday!

Well that is my week, I hope you enjoyed this update.

I know this church is true and the most important thing in the entire world! I love our Savior with all my heart. And I love doing his work.

I love you all,

Elder Rupp
